Dance Foundation Newsletter - January 2026
What a wonderful start to 2026!!
It is lovely to have everyone back after the Christmas break and what a wonderful start to 2026 we have had!!
Invoices for Term 3 have now been sent out. If you have not received yours, please email us. Payment for Term 3 is due by 4th February.
Examinations
Exam entries have now been made for our March ballet exam session with the
Royal Academy of Dance. Time now for all candidates to dedicate extra time at
home especially over the half-term break to improve their mark.
Rehearsal and examination times have been sent out.
All those contacted as a provisional ballet examination candidate for the summer,
please look out for an important email to respond to.
Our new timetable affecting Grade 3 Ballet upwards, starting on Wednesday 4th March
is now available on our website. All ballet examination students will be moving up a
grade and there are also changes to the ballet timetable for Grade 3 upwards.
February Half-Term
Apologies, as a slight change to half term dates… All dance classes will now run as normal up to Tuesday 17th February when we will then take a weeks break for half term and return Wednesday 25th February.
Those of you who know our Acro teacher Amy will know that she is expecting a baby mid March so she is coming to do two sessions with our Acro students on Tuesday 10th & Tuesday 17th February before she finishes for maternity leave. She is going to work on sections for examination dances, which we can then take in to show routines next year. We know you will wish her all the luck becoming a mum for the first time, and we will look forward to seeing her again when she is ready to return to work.
After half-term all the Technique and Tap students will be focusing on examination work. We have lots of students down for a Tap, Jazz or Modern Theatre exam and will be in contact with all provisional candidates towards the end of this term once we have assessed everyone.
Mrs R is due for a further eye op on Thursday 19th February, so by adjusting our half term dates slightly it means minimal disruption to the ballet exam students and the technique students now get an extra session with Amy. Saturday seniors, please make sure you know all your dates for over the half-term break.
Show 2027
Our show week dates for 2027 are Wednesday 21st - Tuesday 27th July.
We will send out more information regarding this but please save the dates. Now is the
time when we start looking at all our students in each genre and getting ideas from them
as to what type of role will suit them for each genre they attend and making sure that all
our senior students for whom it is their last show with us are given a role/challenge that
will suit them. Most schools would pick a show and then audition their students but we
very much work in reverse to this, we find a show to suit our students at the time and it
creates so many varieties according to their strengths in Ballet, Modern, Acro and Tap.
But the top priority is dedication and willingness to give everything a go.
A busy, busy time ahead!!
Best Wishes,
Mrs R & Mrs A
xXx
