Dance Foundation Newsletter - April 2025

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Dance Foundation classes have now finished for Easter, and will return on Tuesday 22nd April.

Congratulations to all of those who took a ballet, tap, modern and jazz exam this term, fabulous results as always!! The main thing that most candidates marks fell with is “performance” and our show this year will really help to improve this!! The website gallery has now been updated with all your beautiful photos from exam rehearsals and the exam days.

Those of you that do Technique/Acro will have received an email regarding practicing and stretching over Easter.  It would be great if we can have as many students as possible taking part in some of the Acro aspects of the show as it is a new skill we have introduced in to the school, but Amy has requested lots of practice and stretching over the Easter break so that we are ready for choreographic flows from her when we see her again in May - very exciting to have a new set of skills to show off inn our 2025 production!!

A few important dates to remember…

Invoices for the next term have now gone out, with payments due by administration day Wednesday 7th May.  Those taking part in the show will have the 2nd show package payment included to wards their show package of show recording, vest and leggings.

Classes will continue to run through the May half-term break but the timings will be slightly different for this week as this is the first time we will get the students to collaborate together.  This is the fun part where the story really starts to come alive.

Show tickets will be going on sale from the Princes Theatre on 2nd June at £18 (£16 concessions).  This is the major part where we do require your support in promoting and selling tickets.  Without this support we would be restricted to keeping to a dance show rather than a production and hiring a village hall instead of a theatre.   All participants will have 8 tickets reserved for them, so you will need a group of at least 8 people to come and watch.  This way we know that we have the costs of the theatre and staff covered.  Please note this doesn’t mean you need to personally purchase all 8 tickets yourself but we would need you to get together a minimum of 8 people to come along and support your child. An idea is to give tickets as presents throughout the year to family and friends.

We are planning another set of ballet examinations for July.  The Vocational Graded ballet students continue their syllabus training throughout the show period, so we will be looking at entering students for Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation and Advanced 1 Ballet during the summer session.  The Saturday students are an extremely dedicated group, who we are sure will rise to the occasion and if they can tie in taking an examination at the same time as performing on stage, they will be at their peak for both occasions.

We will then take a one week break from Sunday 20th - Sunday 27th July inc.  We feel it is important that the children take some time out, have a little break, this also gives us a week to really focus on all the last minute preparations before the show week begins.

Summer School week - the summer school week involving the performance at the Princes Theatre, Clacton runs from 28th July - 2nd August 2025.  Rehearsals are held at our studio on the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then at the Princes Theatre, Thursday, Friday, with the show on Saturday.  The cost for the summer school week is £75 or £100 depending on how much your child is taking part in the show.

Have a wonderful Easter, keep stretching and practicing your beautiful smiles for the stage!!
